Authenticity is never left to a single check. Every piece passes two independent inspections before it reaches you.

Checked by our trusted supplier

We source from established suppliers and collectors we trust. Before a bag is sent to us, they carry out a thorough authenticity check of their own.

Inspected again by us

When a piece arrives, we inspect it ourselves, point by point: materials, stitching, hardware, date codes and stamps. Only when it passes do we photograph, grade and list it. If a piece does not pass, we do not sell it.

What we examine

Every brand and era has its own details. During our inspection we look at everything that tells an authentic piece apart.

MaterialsCanvas, leather and lining are checked for the right texture, weight, print alignment and colour for the model and era.

StitchingStitch count, spacing, thread colour and finishing are compared with the known standards of the brand.

HardwareZippers, clasps, rivets and feet are checked for weight, finish and engravings.

Date codes & serialsDate codes and serial stamps are checked for the correct format, placement and consistency with the model.

Heat stamps & logosFont, spacing and depth of heat stamps and logos are inspected up close.

Your Authenticity Card

Every bag comes with a personalised Vintage Avoir Authenticity Card. It confirms that your piece has passed both our supplier's verification and our own in-house inspection.

Keep it with your bag: it is your proof of authenticity and adds to the story of the piece, also if you ever decide to pass it on.

Every bag is also fitted with a Vintage Avoir security tag. It confirms that a returned bag is the exact authenticated piece we sent, so every piece in our collection stays genuine for the next owner too.

Where our pieces come from

We source our pieces through reputable, established channels: trusted suppliers and collectors we know and have built relationships with.

We are selective. We would rather list fewer pieces than one we are not completely sure of.

Our authenticity promise

Every piece we sell is authentic. If you ever have a doubt about a piece you bought from us, contact us at contact@vintageavoir.com and we will look into it with you and share the details of our inspection.

A piece that is not authentic does not match its description. In that case you are always entitled to a full refund, as your legal right as a consumer.
